Altered Draw Set

Hello everyone

I like many of us crafters love to go to car boot sales ... there is nothing more fun than finding things to alter .... During the summer my partner and I went to a car boot sale and the very first stall I came to had this gorgeous little draw set .

... I was expecting to pay about £3 for it and got a HUGE shock when the guy said 50p .... 50p how could I turn that down !!!!  My partner kept saying but its UGLY ... and I could see just what I wanted it to be like when finished ...

I started by rubbing all the blue paint off and underneath was this gorgeous pale green ... I have planned to do a white wash on it but couldn't believe my luck when it had this green stain on it
I added the small antique plates to the larger draws to tie it in to match the feet
I wanted it to look old and worn so in parts rubbed with the sandpaper until I got down to the wood, I also decided to leave bits of the blue paint on to again hopefully make it look old ...

I had some of the Tim Holtz feet which I wanted to use but because of the shape at the bottom of the draws it was impossible to use them ... thats when I decided to turn them upside down and use the base as a tray on top .... I still had to pad out the 'new' bottom of the draws with thick chipboard which I covered in some Tim Holtz paper I had which the colour matched perfectly.

I tried to take the handles off but it was impossible so I had to leave them.  I then lined the 'new' top with some more of the Tim Holtz paper and simply inked around the edges to soften the look and to also age it.

I am so so thrilled at how it turned out and I LOVE using it, the tray on top is soooo handy.

I would love to know what you all think

Thank you for stopping by
