File Boxes

Hello bloggers

Hope you are all enjoying your Saturday .... I am part of a facebook group called UK & Ireland craftswaps .... it is now open to the rest of the world and I think EVERYONE should join in ... they have international swaps which you can join in and its been great fun making new friends from all over the world ... and they also do challenges where you can make something upload your photo to the challenge and can win a prize ... so no posting involved : )     which leads me to my next make .... FILE BOXES FROM CEREAL BOXES .... I am always tempted to buy these from the shops , then the lovely Yvonne set this challenge ... why had I never thought of making my own before ?????  But I hadn't !!!!
SO here are mine ...... the striped one is from a dish washer tablet box ..... they are so much thicker than cereal boxes so I will be saving them and washing powder boxes from now on ..... the dishwasher tablet box had a cut out section so you could see the tablets inside and once I had covered it with paper it was very fragile so I decided to cover the triangles that I had cut from the top with a co-ordinating paper and fix it to the bottom simply for strength but I like the effect so much I decided to do the same with the cereal box to make that a little stronger too  .... I decided to make labels that can be clipped on so they can be easily changed ..

Hope you like them

Many thanks for stopping by

LEJ DESIGNS CHALLENGE

Hello again everyone well as the heading says LEJ Designs new challenge has gone live today .... the theme this week is 'Emboss it'.

If you read my last post you will be aware that it was my friend Sandra's birthday and I made all her presents for her so to stay with this I decided to make the gift bag too .... You know when you come to the end of a roll of gift wrap and you get either think paper/card rolled up?  Well thats what I made the bag from ... I saved it from Christmas knowing that it would come in handy one day ....
once I decided how big I wanted the bag the rest was easy .... sorry but I didn't do any measuring  I tend to work all by eye ... anyway I sprayed the bag with dylusions inks as close to a flower shape I could using the London blue and the orange ... I wanted a flower as I used one of my favorite LEJ Designs Digi's called Daisies this is such a versatile image .... Just change the colour and it looks totally different . ... I printed the image in 2 different sizes and fussy cut them out, curled the petals using the edge of my bone folder then glued them together and added a button in the centre.

The handle I made from string which I just platted together... the bag tag was blue pearlised card put through one of my embossing folders with a geometric design then I mat and layered white and orange card with the words 'Happy Birthday' on them ... it was a nice sturdy gift bag and was so easy to make so it could fit with my colour scheme.... LEJ Designs has loads of images to suit many different occasions and are sold at a great price.

Stop by and have a look what is available and don't forget to join in for your chance to win

Thank you for stopping by I would love to read your comments

Crafty-Emblies challenge

Hi everyone ... the new Crafty-Emblies new challenge has gone live .... and just incase you didn't know the challenge is open to Altered Art projects AND paper-craft and card makers too .... a fabulous opportunity for everyone to enter....  So if you fancy the chance to win Crafty-Emblies goodies then pop over now ... there is also a "Anything Goes" theme on a permanent basis....

OH and even MORE good news ... Crafty-Emblies are celebrating the purchase of their NEW machine and are offering a 25% discount on all orders till the end of the week so hurry on over ..

Ok so what did I make .....
I decorated this box for my friend, who's birthday was this weekend just gone .... she likes Shabby Chic but always complains that she can't do it ... so I did my version of Shabby Chic for her .... I pained it white first the pained it with some gold paint, then dry brushed white over the top .... The Crafty-Emblies I  chose to use were  the 'love birds' and the flowers ....

I LOVE how versatile these little birds are and the flowers are great to put on nearly everything ... I dry brushed them all with white paint to give a Shabby look to them .... I also layered the flowers on top of each other ... all the flower shapes work so well together so layering then like this is easy....

Lastly I made a small flower from lace and added some small ribbon to it ... and then added punched out leaves and small paper roses ...

Hope you like it :)  and I hope my friend does too ..
